How nice would it be to have a full house without the inconvenience of the infamous holiday season’s kitchen clogs and bathroom backups? It is quite common for that added traffic on drain lines to show you home’s sewer line vulnerabilities. At Leak Pros and More we understand the frustration this causes and because we care about our customers we want to extend some tips to avoid these issues.
One main preventative tip, and the easiest way to keep your pipes clear, is to make sure nothing goes into the main line that shouldn’t. Many items frequently get put in the drains that just don’t break down and cause gradual build up resulting in those annoying stoppages.
These items should NEVER be flushed or be put down any drain:
- Grease, oils or fats (pour them into a glass jar or metal coffee tin with a tightly fitted lid)
- Coffee grounds
- Cotton balls
- Produce stickers
- Paper towels or wet wipes
- Rags or cloths
- Feminine hygiene products
- Kitty litter
- Paint (Paint is flammable, releases dangerous fumes and will stick to your pipes)
What to Do If You Have a Backup
Sometimes a plunger will clear some smaller stoppages, slowdowns, and backups. If the problem persists you may have a larger main line stoppage on your hands, and thats where our expertise and special equipment will come to the rescue!
What if You Have a Larger Stoppage
Are drains making gurgling sounds as they back up with water? Does water backup in the tub or shower when you flush the toilet? Do your sinks and toilets start overflowing? If you answered yes, chances are you have a main line sewer clog.
A fiber optic video camera inspection is often utilized to diagnose medium to larger stoppages. This methodology is in place to locate exactly where the stoppage is occurring and whether it’s in the main line or another one of your home’s sewer lines. This methodology is used to identify any potential damaged area in your line to avoid causing further damage.
Once our highly skilled technician has quickly identified and cleared your clog the video camera will then again be used to show video proof of the cleared issue so you are confident you will be clog free.
